Pakistan does not require another round of elections; rather, it urgently needs to focus on establishing a sustainable economy and effective governance. Over the past 75 years, numerous elections have taken place, each accompanied by substantial expenditures. Unfortunately, these elections have consistently resulted in disputed outcomes, leading to premature terminations of governments before completing their full 5-year terms. Consequently, Pakistan has gained little in the last seven decades, carrying the increasing burden of loans year after year.

The pressing question persists: what will the 2024 elections bring to my doorstep? Will there be a reduction in poverty, inflation, or oil and gas prices? Will there be an increase in foreign currency reserves or a decrease in basic food costs? The harsh reality is that none of these essential aspects are likely to change. Instead, what awaits us is a cohort of more than 300 members of the National Assembly, along with numerous others in Provincial Assemblies. Additionally, there will be an army of over 50 federal ministers. Despite the exorbitant one-time expense incurred during general elections, the monthly financial burden will persist with billions of rupees spent on salaries, fuel, and other expenses for members of the National and Provincial Assembly, including ministers.

It is evident that Pakistan is currently in dire need of caretakers, individuals focused on the nation’s well-being rather than being money takers solely driven by personal gain.
