It forms the bedrock upon which various technologies thrive, steering us towards realms like AI, the metaverse, ChatGPT, and the internet itself. We the humans generate so much data every day. Estimated by Bernard Marr & Co by end of 2022, we created 97 zettabytes of data in the world with estimated daily 2.5 quintillion bytes of data creation across the Globe. Reports suggest that the vast majority (up to 85%) of it consists of copies of files. Projections show that by 2025, half of all data will be in the cloud and just 20% of it will remain in personal devices. Humans create and cultivate data through their activities, be it composing text, snapping photos, recording videos, or making online transactions. These collective efforts generate a reservoir of information that underpins technological progress. Data isn’t static-it’s a living entity that evolves with every passing moment. Data collection and storage serve as the bedrock of all technologies, AI being a prime example. This process involves gathering, organizing, and safeguarding data, empowering technologies to unravel patterns, make predictions, and facilitate informed decisions. The big data market is expected to soon reach $100 billion in yearly revenue, earning itself a spot on the list of the biggest industries in the US. In the grand tapestry of technological advancement, data is the golden thread that weaves everything together. It’s the fuel that powers innovation, propelling us towards AI-driven breakthroughs and immersive metaverse experiences.
